Howling winds and rain showers describe today. The temperature dropped indicating the cold front is closing in.
The birds must know that there are flurries in the forecast. They were having a feeding frenzy. Two bluejays were simultaneously pecking at the same suet feeder. The magpies strutted to the cat food dish hoping to grab some tasty morsels and keep from being ambushed by the cats. The nuthatches scanned the poplar snag in their silly upside down manner. The juncos worked their way through a patch of seedy weeds.
The backyard birds were not the only ones busy this evening. Flocks of swans came over tonight just when there was no camera in hand.
As I walked through the yard, I noticed raindrops on the many leaves that were strewn on the ground. I couldn't resist a few water drop photos.
There were some big red strawberries in the garden. They were well hidden so last night's frost did not get them. I managed to pick a handful of sweetness.
Leafy lettuce is still growing by the back step. The hens and chicks sprouted many new little 'chicks' even though I transplanted them in the hottest part of the summer.
There is snow in the forecast with the incoming cold front. From the looks of things it will not be staying if it actually happens as it is supposed to reach +17C on Sunday. That will be perfect to celebrate Thanksgiving a week early.
