The area that I live in was designated a Biosphere in March of this
year. As part of the Beaver Hills Initiative, our local municipality
has constructed and is maintaining a new trail; the Beaver Hills
Biodiversity Trail. It is 2.5km long and winds through the forest
alongside active ponds and ends in an open meadow. Wildflowers are in
bloom, berries are abundant, birds sing from the treetops and a variety
of waterfowl have raised their young in the ponds. On my last visit, I
encountered a family of swans on the water. The recent addition of
benches along the trail makes for the perfect opportunity to stop and
take in Mother Nature's sights and sounds.
