Rain, rain, go away. It's March 2 and it's raining. It's not a little sprinkle but a downpour mixed with sleet. I was on the highway and had to keep the wipers on high to keep the windshield clear.
The day started off calm with a beautiful sunrise. When I left home this morning, I passed by a moose who was nibbling some young willow branches. I saw two deer helping themselves to a snack at some round hay bales in a farm field. Ravens and magpies were scavenging some of the animal carcasses that have been hidden under the snowbanks along the roadside.
At noon, the weather began changing. A light rain shower started but as the afternoon wore on, the rain came down harder. I checked the weather website. It has a snowfall warning that says there could be 10-15cms of snow by Sunday night. There could be more. Nothing like a spring snowstorm with heavy, wet snow. There are more snowflakes than rain right now.
The birds are having a feeding frenzy at the backyard feeders. I wonder if they know that their food store will be covered with snow overnight.
I can't do anything about the weather so tonight, I'm taking up a comfy chair with a good book in front of the wood stove. The snow shovel is ready and waiting by the back door.
