Rain is pounding against the windows today. The moisture has intensified the fall colors. Water droplets fall to the earth from each leaf and flower petal.

I watched the birds from the kitchen window. They were busy at the sunflowers. The once proud, tall sunflower stocks that reached for the sun are now drooping. The heads have lost most of their petals and the birds have been busy plucking out the fresh seeds.

I was looking forward to a walk in the rain today but it's been a torrential downpour. Water is standing in puddles on the driveway and flowing in the 'dry creek bed' that I created to take the water away from the downspout.

I'll wait for tomorrow with the hope that the rain will let up and I can take 'a walk on the wild side'.
