Star light. Star bright. A million stars I see tonight. There are stars everywhere. Ice fog was hanging in the low areas along my drive home. The cloudless sky is part of the reason that the thermometer has already dipped to -24C. How low will it go tonight?
What silly weather. Since January 1st we've had a high of +5.6C and a low of -15.9C. This evening will be the coldest night of 2013 so far.
The birds must have known that a change is coming again. They were having a feeding frenzy at all the feeders this afternoon. Blue jays, magpies, chickadees, woodpeckers, and ravens were all taking turns at a pile of peanuts.
The chickadees were feasting on the striped sunflower seeds. It was funny to watch them. The seeds were bigger than their beaks. Some of them were having a wee bit of trouble at take off.
All the birds were fluffing up their feathers to keep warm; making them look double in size. I took a lesson from the birds and bought a down filled jacket this week. Maybe something was telling me that I needed feathers too!
I checked the long range forecast and things should be on the upswing next week again. It should happen just as I have time again to hit the trails. Woohoo!
