I don't know what is going on with the weather.  The past four weekends have left us with so much snow that there is no room to put it anymore and tonight it is raining.  Yes, it is -9C and it is pouring rain like it would be on a summer day.  I turned the outside light on and the deck is coated with a lovely layer of shiny ice.

I went on a road trip today to pick up the last pieces of my log furniture order.  During the first half of the trip, I counted 20 vehicles in the ditch; most either on their side or on their roof.  That was without rain to slick up the highway.  What is tomorrow morning going to bring?

Live outdoor decor.
My trip to Buck Lake was uneventful until I was almost home.  Just before the road starts winding down to the lake where I live, three moose were crossing in front of me.

The adult was trying to jump a board fence.  It took three tries due to the deep snow and the high fence but on the third attempt, he cleared it from a standing position.  It was amazing to watch how he managed to do it without touching the top board.

Moose on the loose.
The two young ones stood in the middle of the road, not moving in either direction.  I kept inching forward and they finally galloped off to the west in the deep snow.  It did not deter them from clearing the barbed wire fence with ease.

Before I left this morning, I filled the grain tub for the deer.  It appears that they preferred the sunflower seeds today as the bird feeders were empty but the tub was still full.  It didn't take long for three of them to come into the yard and find that their only menu choice was grain.

I spent the evening rearranging furniture and putting the last of the Christmas items out.  I found a photo taken on Christmas Day in 1997.  My sons were in short sleeves, standing outside holding a sign that said "Where's the snow?"  There was not a flake of snow to be found.  We don't have that problem this year.

My kitchen is complete.  Merry Christmas to me.
