I grabbed the snowshoes and drove to SWC. There were not many hardy people there. The parking lot is usually full but there were only 4 vehicles today. I could hear the groomer on the ski trails. The parking lot will probably be full tomorrow.
I was the first one on the snowshoe trail so ended up having to break trail. The clouds were moving off. The blue sky was beginning to appear and the sun was making the new snow sparkle. What a great outing!
My drive home was spent taking in the snowy scenery. Each tree branch held a layer of snow. It was Christmas card perfect.
As I pulled into my driveway, I noticed 3 deer making their way into the yard; one doe and two fawns. This was the mean mama so I knew there would be some action. She must think that she is queen of the yard. When the fawns try to get close to the food tub, she takes after them and goes to the tub herself. One of the little ones moved to a bird feeder. As soon as mama saw this, she came charging over and chased the young one away. What a bully.
I had a most excellent outdoor day today. I contemplated taking the skis out but I really did need to get some work done since I have to go on a road trip tomorrow. The forecast shows freezing rain for the afternoon. I'm really hoping that it holds off until I make it back.
My final pieces of log furniture are complete and it's pick up day tomorrow. I can't wait to get that new table and chairs into my kitchen!
